Bois d'Or" concept

A hybrid concept combining traditional craftsmanship and hotel innovation.

Location: Savigny, Switzerland

Year: 2024

Type: Commercial / Hotel & grocery horeca

Mission: Design of a self-contained hotel with grab & go grocery store, integration of unmanned technologies, enhancement of the historical identity of an old village carpenter's workshop.

Context
In Savigny, the village's former carpenter's workshop is being transformed into a unique hospitality venue: a new-generation hotel combined with a local grocery store.
The aim: to preserve the site's artisanal soul while creating a connected, accessible and fluid hotel and catering space, adapted to a passing clientele (especially truckers and travelers) looking for comfort, speed and authenticity.

Approach & design
The project was based on three axes:

  1. Memory of wood
    • Conservation of joinery codes with the integration of solid wood volumes, wall cladding and artisanal details.
    • Installation of a central tree, symbolizing the link between artisanal past and sustainable roots.
  2. Independent hospitality
    • Development of a hotel with digital access and no permanent staff.
    • Automated check-in, intuitive circulation, flow management designed to optimize the comfort of customers on the move.
  3. Grocery to go
    • Creation of a "grab & go" area for local and essential products.
    • A clear, attractive layout to make shopping easier and faster.

Ambiance & materials

  • Colors: natural palette dominated by deep greens and woody browns.
  • Materials: wood contrasted with mineral surfaces and wood terrazzo from Foresso.
  • Lighting: warm suspensions and technical integrations emphasize volumes, for an atmosphere that's both warm and modern.

Results
Bois d'Or becomes an innovative hybrid concept:

  • A connected hotel and catering business, designed for travelers' speed and comfort.
  • A reinvented village grocery store, adapted to today's consumer trends.
  • A strong identity that respects our artisan heritage while asserting a modern vision of hospitality.

A project that illustrates how commercial interior design can combine local identity, horeca performance and technological innovation.
