Cordon" project

A bold renovation where the raw charm of stone meets the modernity of contemporary design.

Location: Nyon, Switzerland

Year: 2024

Surface area: Detached house

Type: Residential, best residential concept Interior Design Luxury Lifestyle Awards Switzerland, 2025

Mission: Complete renovation - structural opening, kitchen and living room design, master bedroom and bathroom layout

Context

The owners wanted to transform this house into a contemporary, open and welcoming space, revealing its hidden potential. The aim was to open up the walls, bring in more light and create fluid living spaces, while respecting the authenticity of the existing structure.

Approach & design

The project was built around a strong bias:

  • Enhancement of the original load-bearing stone walls, preserved and left exposed,
  • Opening up the kitchen and living room by partially demolishing partitions to create a generous, convivial central space,
  • Bold contrasts between raw materials and smooth finishes: stone, metal, waxed concrete and lacquered surfaces,
  • Integration of designer furniture with colorful seats, bringing a pop and graphic touch to the whole,
  • Work on light with sculptural suspensions and highlighting natural textures.

Ambiance & materials

The Cordon project is based on a balance between authenticity and modernity:

  • Exposed stone structures the space and gives it a unique character,
  • Metal and steel underline the industrial and architectural fabric,
  • Light-colored woods and bespoke furnishings add warmth,
  • The bright colors of the seats add a playful, contemporary twist, creating a play of contrasts.

Results

The Cordon house has become a graphic, bold and elegant interior:

  • a bright, open-plan space,
  • a design that combines the raw and the refined,
  • an atypical location that won the project the Luxury Lifestyle Award 2025 - Best Contemporary Residential Interior Design in Switzerland.
