Location:Gland, Vaud, Switzerland

Year: 2026

Area: 358 m²

Type:Restaurant / Bar / Pizzeria

Scope of Work: Redesign of the dining room and bar, layout plan by zone (restaurant, bar, lounge, high tables), selection of furniture, lighting, materials, and decor.

Background
Mont Blanc is a restaurant and bar in Gland, known as the hub of Gland Sud. People come here for morning coffee, a homemade pizza at lunchtime, weekend brunch, an aperitif on the patio, or an evening of cocktails and local craft beers. The venue also hosts private events and games, including darts and pétanque. The goal was to create a warm and welcoming space capable of accommodating all these activities without complicating the team’s work.

Approach & Design
The project was designed based on the actual use of the site:

  • The room is organized into distinct areas: restaurant tables, high tables, a bar counter, a lounge area, and benches.
  • A versatile space that can be adapted for everything from a family brunch to a lively evening out or a private event.
  • Open shelves made of dark wood, which separate the spaces without closing them off and maintain the view through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
  • The bar counter and central planter are covered with green glazed tile, which is durable and easy to maintain.
  • Furniture selected for heavy-duty professional use: seat and table heights, space requirements, service flow, number of place settings, and durable fabrics.
  • Lighting provided by light strips suspended from the wooden slatted ceiling, creating an evening atmosphere without compromising the room's visibility.
  • An approach informed by more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry and running a café-bar.

Ambiance & materials

  • Green is the dominant color: veined green stone flooring, glazed tiles at the bar, plants, and cushions.
  • Dark wood for the shelves and countertops, warm wood on the ceiling.
  • Camel-colored leather for the sofas and benches, taupe velvet for the chairs and stools.
  • Accents of brushed metal on the side tables and the beer dispenser.
  • Warm, graphic lighting that gives the space its character in the evening.

Result
Mont Blanc now offers:

  • a well-organized reading room, divided into sections based on the time of day,
  • a welcoming bar at the heart of the restaurant's atmosphere,
  • comfort that's perfect for both quick meals and long evenings,
  • a strong visual identity that is recognizable as soon as you walk in.

The space is designed with its customers in mind, as well as the team that brings it to life every day.
