Pomare" armchair called "Emmanuelle
To this day, this chair remains one of the most popular in the world of decoration. Very bohemian and vintage, this exceptional rattan chair is still the talk of the town and the ideal partner for a tropical trend.
The Emmanuelle armchair goes perfectly with an interior decorated with plants and flowers. It brings that lightness of vegetation that we often miss in our urban environments. Inspired by my travels, the photo illustrating this article was taken in Crete, during my stay in Stalis.

This famous armchair has its origins in the kingdom of Tahiti. In the 18th century, the dynasty of Tahitian kings adopted the name "Pomare" ("cough at night", in Tahitian), in memory of Pomare I's daughter, who died of tuberculosis.
The chair received its name a century later. The adopted son of the last king, Pomare V, is said to have died on such a chair. He was reportedly 2m tall and weighed 250 kilos. Just goes to show!
It wasn't until the 1970s, thanks to the poster for the erotic film "Emmanuelle", in which the protagonist appears slightly undressed and sitting lasciviously in an Emmanuelle chair, that this chair became emblematic around the world.
Wouldn't we all like to have one at home, knowing all this?
