I picked up this chair during a move without really knowing its history.
I can tell you that from now on, it will never leave me!

The CESCA b32 chair, also known as the cantilever chair, was designed by Hungarian designer Marcel Breuer in 1925.
An emblematic piece in the artist's career, it is also a typical lounge chair of the Bauhaus movement (the famous school of architecture and applied arts founded in 1919 in Thuringia, Germany).
The CESCA b32 is a perfect example of the best of Bauhaus design. When designing this chair, Marcel Breuer respected the principle of balance, giving it a minimalist, curved aesthetic. The structure is made of a single chromed steel tube, bent at the corners to give it a rounded shape, and the seat is made of clear cane with a black-lacquered beechwood frame. The chair's signature feature: no rear legs (cantilever system).
The b32 model is easily recognizable by its technical features and materials.
A little heart-warming anecdote: Marcel Breuer named the chair after his adopted daughter ("Fran-cesca").
